How to Use and Care for This End Down Cloth Diapers
Use:
THIS END DOWN Cloth Diapers come in two parts: The diaper and the insert
The diapers have an opening in the back that allows you to stuff them with the absorbent inserts. This allows you to “unstuff” them to speed up drying time. For normal use, stuff one insert into the diaper. For naptime, bedtime or when you are going to be away from the house for a short period of time, you can stuff the diaper with two or three inserts. Make sure that the entire insert is under the fleece flap so that the only thing touching your baby’s skin is the soft fleece.
**When using the bottom row of snaps, make sure that the insert does not go past the bottom row of snaps. Not doing so will cause leaking.** There will be extra length to the insert when using the bottom row of snaps. Just fold it down in the back and make sure that it is under the fleece flap.
The diapers have two rows of snaps on the front. For newborns and small babies, use the bottom row. As your baby grows they can graduate up to the top row. Each “wing” of the diaper has two snaps that fit into the snaps on the front. Using both snaps on each wing will help prevent drooping. You can snap the wing to the front using the row and snap that allows for the best fit. When using the bottom row of snaps you can fold the top of the front of the diaper down after snapping the wings in place. There is an extra snap on each wing designed to snap and hold the top fold down. Simply stuff at least one insert into the diaper and snap the diaper shut.
**Make sure that the legs are ruffled out and only the fleece (not the flannel) is touching your baby’s skin. Not doing so will cause leaking.**
Care:
When you change your baby's diaper, shake any solid poop into the toilet and the insert out into a bag-lined diaper pail. Then just toss the diaper in after it.
On washday take the bag to the washing machine and shove all the diapers and inserts into the washer. (You never have to touch the dirty diapers!) Wash with HOT water and rinse twice with COLD water. Only use half of the detergent recommended for your washer and NO fabric softener or bleach. Dry on medium heat until dry (about 30 minutes). If you are concerned about stains you can just lay the diapers out in the sun (fleece side up) for a few hours and the stains will fade right out.
